    Big news for renters affected by floods in New South Wales
    You could be eligible for a new grant if your rental home was made uninhabitable by the severe storms and flooding on the NSW East Coast in May. The Renters Bond and Advanced Rent Grant is a one-time payment of $5,500 to help renters who need a new place to live because their old rental home became uninhabitable in this disaster.

    What to expect when attending the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT).
    Although the official NCAT website states that “[m]ost people represent themselves at NCAT. You can conduct your own case without a lawyer or other representative”, the Law and Justice Foundation study participants consistently reported feeling safer whenever a Tenant Advocate was present to assist them during the hearing or conciliation. The Advocate’s “involvement not only mitigated the emotional and procedural burden on tenants but also contributed to more informed and confident participation.”
