ABOUT

Donate to support our work

Over two million people rent in NSW, and for 48 years the Tenants' Union has been on your side.

Donations help us take up the fight in new and innovative ways, fund legal challenges, research, campaigns or activities that other funds can't. Donations are processed securely through Givenow. Donations over $2 are tax deductible, and you will receive a receipt as soon as the donation is processed.

Ten residents chipped in to make the donation in appreciation of the assistance they received from the Tenants’ Union and the local Tenants Service  to resolve electricity overcharging in their community.

We are also registered for workplace giving through Benevity and Good2Give if you would like to set up workplace giving donations through those platforms.

What does the Tenants' Union do? Every year we:

  • Support 19 Tenants Advice and Advocacy Services across NSW through training, back-up advice, and other assistance

  • Provide 9,000+ referrals and advices to renters and advocates
Educate renters and advocates – 1,700 training participants last year

  • Maintain 200+ online legal resources – viewed 3.6 million times last year – including data-driven tools such as Rent Tracker, Rent Increase Negotiation Kit, NCAT evictions map, and End of Tenancy Survey data

  • Give renters a voice – we had over 100 media appearances last year

  • Keep 7,000+ subscribers informed

  • Campaign with renters and community to secure and shape new rental laws – most recently on evictions, pets and more

  • Make dozens of submissions and briefings to government – last year on mandatory energy efficiency standards, homelessness strategy, NCAT, companion animals, Homes NSW and more.
